Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (h-EDS) and Hypermobile Spectrum Disorder (HSD) are a group of 13+ inherited connective tissue disorders with h-EDs being the most common subtype. Symptoms can vary widely however, a few key aspects of h-EDS are loose, unstable joints that may easily and frequently dislocate or subluxate (partial dislocation), along with stretchy skin, and chronic pain. EDS is co-morbid with Autism, ADHD, POTS, MCAS, PCOS, IBS, TMJ, fibromyalgia, migraines/headaches, chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety, depression and then some. Treatment for EDS includes physical therapy, strength training, bracing, inflammation management, pain management, and nervous system regulation.
Massage Therapy for h-EDS
Key Benefits
Muscular Relief: With h-EDS, muscles overwork to compensate for loose ligaments, leading to chronic tension and spasms. Massage therapy helps relax these muscles.
Fascial Health: It addresses pain in the fascia (connective tissue) by increasing blood flow, reducing tightness, and improving elasticity.
Pain Modulation: Gentle massage can inhibit nerve pain signals to the brain and reduce pain perception.
Improved Proprioception: It aids in improving body awareness (knowing where limbs are in space), which is often impaired in hypermobility, potentially reducing injuries.
Mental Well-being: Massage can reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, improving the overall, complex, lived experience of chronic illness.
Crucial Considerations
Gentle Techniques: Aggressive massage can cause injury. Gentle approaches and meeting your body where it’s at is imperative to bodywork for individuals with h-EDS. Respecting limitations and accommodations will be made as needed.
Qualified Practitioners: It is essential to work with a massage therapist familiar with hypermobility or EDS to avoid joint subluxation or dislocation.
Avoid Stretching or Traction: Massage should focus on muscle and fascia, not forcing joints beyond their range of motion.

Your nervous system has been working hard for a long time, let's address that!
Many neurodivergent people spend years masking, pushing through sensory overwhelm, living with chronic tension, or feeling disconnected from their bodies. Whether you’re autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, highly sensitive, or simply experience the world differently, massage can be more than pain relief. It can be an opportunity to regulate your nervous system, reduce sensory overload, gain sensory input (for the sensory seekers!), gain somatic and proprioceptive awareness, and reconnect with yourself.
As a neurodivergent massage therapist, I understand that every body has different sensory needs. I offer a space where stimming is welcome, accommodations are normalized, communication is flexible, consent is ongoing, and you never have to pretend to be “less” of yourself. Together, we’ll create a session that honors your comfort, your boundaries, and the way your nervous system works.
You deserve care that adapts to you, not the other way around. -
Healing isn't just about relieving pain, it's about feeling at home in your body!
Many LGBTQIA+ folx carry stress that goes far beyond tight muscles. Experiences like chronic stress, discrimination, masking, gender dysphoria, or simply navigating a world that isn't always affirming can leave the nervous system stuck in patterns of tension and vigilance. Massage can be a powerful way to connect or reconnect with your body, regulate your nervous system, and experience touch that is grounded in safety, respect, and consent.
As a queer massage therapist, I strive to create a space where your identity is celebrated, your boundaries are respected, and your nervous system is invited to soften. Whether you're looking for relief from pain, emotional support during transition and/or physical support for healing post gender affirming surgery, help processing stress, or simply a place to breathe deeper, you're welcome here. My goal is to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care so you can be your most queer self.
You deserve the care that leans into queerness and honors your whole self!

Mental Clarity: Helps identify and change the mental patterns causing suffering or dysfunction and conversely the mental patterns that create joy, love, and growth.
