What to Expect
Arrival & Consultation
Arrive early: Plan to arrive 5+ minutes before your scheduled start time to use the restroom or to have a minute to transition to the space.
The interview: I will chat with you briefly about your primary goals, such as general relaxation, if we are targeting a specific injury, or an area of the body where you are feeling pain/tension. Your goals can also include processing big emotions, releasing something that doesn't serve you, or calling in/manifesting something- power of attraction style. Please ask any questions you have. I love answering questions!
Requests: There are endless options for our massage session. You can request adjustments for the music, temperature, or the pressure at any time. Some additional tools I have that I will be stoked for you to request include: cupping therapy, gua sha scraping, flower essences added to the oil, and/or a weighted blanket placed on top of your body for extra grounding. I do not charge for add-ons; all of my prices are flat fees.
During the Massage
Massage oil: My favorite type of massage oil is plain shea butter. In my opinion, it creates the perfect balance of slippy and grippy. I also have jojoba oil if you are sensitive/allergic to shea butter.
Professional draping: You are kept covered with a sheet and blanket at all times. I will only uncover the specific part of the body I am working on, such as a leg or your back.
Relaxed silence: Not talking during a massage is completely normal and actively encouraged. Staying silent helps your brain enter a deep state of relaxation and allows your muscles to properly release. However, sometimes something relevant to your healing journey comes up during a massage. The body can release emotions and memories during a session. If you would like to share what comes up, I am always open to listening and guiding you through somatic inquiry about your thoughts, questions, or stories.
Breathe: Integrating intentional breathing with massage therapy maximizes muscle relaxation, reduces pain perception, and accelerates stress relief by triggering your body's nervous system to calm down. At times, I will prompt you to breathe to help facilitate your session. Please let me know if you would like more or less of this.
Touch consent: You are in complete control. I will always ask permission before touching your body. You always have the right to revoke touch consent at any time! Please let me know if you need a short break, would like something different for your massage session, or would even like to end your session early.
Wrap-Up & Aftercare
Wrap-up: After the session, some clients like to share about their internal experience. For example, if any unexpected emotions came up or were released, or if working on a particular part of the body felt more tension than expected. Also, at this time, please let me know if you particularly enjoyed something pertaining to my bodywork or if there is something you would like for me to change for our next session.
The "floaty" feeling: It is common to feel a deep sense of calm and lightheadedness. If you need a minute to recover, feel free to hang out in the waiting room until you are ready to drive home. recommend. Enjoy marshmallow land!
Aftercare: Sometimes emotions can arise after body work. That is normal. It can be nice to take it slow, touch grass, journal, notice what comes up, and just observe it in real time. If you feel mild next-day muscle soreness, I recommend hydrating with electrolytes and also, if possible, take a epsum salt bath or foot soak. If you would like, we can also reduce the pressure during your next session to help prevent muscle soreness.
Hydration: Drinking water after a massage rehydrates your muscles and aids circulation. The deep tissue manipulation moves metabolic byproducts—like lactic acid—out of the muscle tissue and into your circulatory system. Drinking water ensures your kidneys can efficiently process and eliminate these waste products while easing post-massage fatigue and preventing headaches.
Tipping: I am a gratuity-free business. Instead of a regular tip, please show your gratitude by re-booking and also referring me to your friends and family! I appreciate your support with connecting me to other community members who need Slow Flow Body Healing!!!
Rebooking: It is always advised to book your next session before you leave. Your future self will thank you!
